“Disconnected from life and the real world, disconnected from all that is pain. The place that I call my kingdom has driven many mortals insane. To this place I mean to take you, I have so much to show, lay down your flowers my love to this place we must go. Seasons change when I go to Hades. / Why do you kick, why do you scream? Do you not know what lies ahead? You will sit beside me as my queen, here in the realm of the dead. You were promised to me by my brother, this may give you much grief. You can cry all you want for your mother once you feast from oblivion, you will never leave.”

Hades and Persephone: The myths all say she was taken. That the lord of the dead forced her into marriage. Yet, how are we to know if that is the truth? Perhaps, the truth may be simple. Simple yet powerful enough to change the legend. What truth could that be? Is it not obvious? Persephone fell in love with him.
Myths & Legends: The Goddess Persephone and Her Abduction
Persephone, the daughter of Zeus and Demeter, was the goddess of springtime. She was a young, beautiful and radiant maiden who caught the eye of Hades, god of the underworld. One sunny day, when the goddess stooped down to pluck a narcissus flower from the ground, a large crevice appeared in the ground. From that crevice, Hades came in on a golden chariot and took Persephone with him to the Underworld where she became his wife and Queen of the Underworld. Though she grew to love Hades and her position of queen, she missed her mother. Because she ate pomegranate seeds while in the Underworld she wasn’t able to fully leave it when Zeus allowed her to return to the above world. Thus, she was able to spend part of the year with her husband, Hades and the other part with her mother, Demeter.
